Shanika Ocean is a British actress from London with an array of credits to her name, including “The Weekend Movie” (Netflix), “Death on the Tyne” (TV movie) and “The T-Boy Show” (Comedy TV series).
Shanika’s acting career continues to go from strength to strength as she is set to feature in Season 3 of Hulu’s “Harlots” series alongside Liv Tyler and Alfie Allen, which premieres on 10thJuly 2019.
Her other projects airing later this year include: “A Confession” (ITV) alongside Martin Freeman, “The Capture” (BBC) alongside Ben Miles, and commercials for high-end brands such as Bremont Watches and the Rosewood London Hotel.
Shanika has been acting since childhood and attended the Sharon Harris Drama School. She later went on to study at Identity Drama School under Femi Oguns MBE. Her recent training includes attending The Groundlings theatre school in Los Angeles and masterclasses with renowned casting director Phaedra Harris.
Shanika is also a trained singer and featured in Gareth Malone OBE’s first TV series “The Choir” (BBC2) which aired in 2006. The show saw Shanika travel to China with her fellow choristers to represent Great Britain in the World Choir Olympics. She also appeared in “The Choir Revisited” in 2008 and in “Gareth Malone’s Great Choir Reunion” in 2015.
Shanika also has a background as a successful presenter and has interviewed numerous well-known artists, including Dionne Warwick, Rita Ora, Algee Smith, Emeli Sandé, Krept & Konan and R’n’B singer Lloyd to name a few. She was also the host of SKY TV music show “Unplugged” which showcased up-and-coming British talent. Her other presenting jobs include: Capital Xtra Radio alongside Britain’s Got Talent Comedian Kojo Anim, the MOBO Awards Red Carpet, London Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, SBTV and BBC Bitesize.
